According to reports, the incident took place on Monday night when Rajesh Sur Chowdhury, a well-known educator at Bishalgarh Higher Secondary School, was violently assaulted near Bishalgarh Hospital. With the state’s most significant festival, Durga Puja, just around the corner, Congress leaders warned that the prevailing atmosphere of insecurity could cast a shadow on public celebrations. They urged the government and police to act decisively to restore confidence among the people.
“The upcoming festive season must not be marred by fear and violence. We demand that the government ensures the safety of citizens, teachers, journalists, and families who wish to celebrate in peace,” a senior Congress member told reporters.
