A beautiful society requires each and everyone’s effort. The Divyangjans are ahead regardless of various challenges in life. There is a lot that we can learn from them. They also can play an important role in improving the society, enunciated Information & Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Choudhury in a programme organized by Social Welfare & Social Education department on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Rabindra Bhawan today. The ICA Minister as the Chief Guest in the programme said, celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities holds great significance. It has been celebrated every year in different parts of the world since 1992. This day is dedicated to the Divyangjans. The society, the world is for everyone. Only human can help human. Some are born as Divyangjans but they are an inseparable part of the society. The Divyangjans also play a significant role in building a healthy society. The government stands by them and always will.

         Presiding the programme, Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Antara Deb Sarkar said, the state government is always standing for the overall welfare of the children of the Divyangjans. Welcome speech was delivered by West Tripura District Program Officer of SW&SE department Chandrani Biswas. State Commissioner of Person with Disabilities Mohammed Zubair Ali Hashmi spoke on the objective behind celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities. He said, with the advancement in technology, the lifestyle of the Divyangjans will be better in the coming days.

     The ICA Minister and other guests handed over walking aids to the Divyangjans in the programme. Trimon Sarkar, a young lady residing in women’s home in Abhoynagar was felicitated for securing job as a teacher after passing in TET examination. Trimon Sarkar shared her life experiences in her speech. She also thanked the state government and SW&SE department for providing assistance in education and in other areas. Children of different schools, home and NGO organizations run under SW&SE department joined the programme.
