Tripura’s Krishnakali Saha joins Sonu Nigam in the duet “Pardesiya” for Param Sundari, marking another milestone in her musical journey. From Indian Idol fame to an upcoming solo performance at NMACC Mumbai, her story is one of talent, dedication, and global recognition.

In a heartwarming and proud moment for the state of Tripura, Krishnakali Saha, a gifted vocalist from Agartala, has taken yet another giant leap in her flourishing music career. She recently lent her soulful voice alongside Bollywood legend Sonu Nigam in the romantic duet “Pardesiya,” featured in the upcoming film Param Sundari. The song, brimming with emotion and rich classical undertones, has already begun to capture the hearts of music enthusiasts across the nation.

Krishnakali, the daughter of Pranab Saha and Aparna Saha, has become a symbol of artistic excellence in Tripura. Her journey, which began humbly by imitating her mother’s evening ragas on the harmonium, has evolved into a remarkable national-level musical career. Her deep-rooted passion and relentless dedication to music have brought her not only recognition but also affection from fans far and wide.

From an early age, Krishnakali displayed a unique musical sensibility. Sitting beside her mother during evening practice sessions, she began humming along. Recognizing this budding talent, her parents nurtured her with unwavering support. Her father, a known cultural personality in Tripura, introduced her to the stage at a young age. This early exposure helped shape her confidence and stage presence.

To refine her skills, Krishnakali trained under the late Nani Gopal Chakraborty, a revered classical music guru. Her training continued under the guidance of notable musicians like Nibedita Chakraborty, Bhajan Chakraborty, and tabla maestro Shyamal Deb. Her commitment to both academics and music helped her maintain a balanced lifestyle, even while striving for excellence.

In 2014, she moved to Kolkata for higher education and pursued her musical aspirations under the mentorship of Pandit Rajeshwari Ghosh, Pandit Ashish Chakraborty, and Kalyan Sen Barat. Despite holding an engineering degree, Krishnakali found her true calling in music. She rose to national fame after participating in Indian Idol (2018) and later Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (2020), where her voice and presence were widely appreciated.

This was followed by solo and group performances in the USA in 2023 and 2024, where she further impressed global audiences. Back home, her visits to Tripura are always met with overwhelming admiration and support, reinforcing her roots and the love of her people.

Krishnakali’s creativity extends beyond performance. Her original composition “Barkha Bahar,” released under Merchant Records, showcases her talent as both a lyricist and composer. The song has resonated widely, gaining traction among fans of contemporary Indian classical fusion. She has also shared the stage with legends such as Abhijeet Bhattacharya (in the film Shukranu) and Hariharan, whom she cites as one of her greatest inspirations.

Currently residing in Mumbai, Krishnakali continues to refine her art under the guidance of maestros Ustad Murtuza Khan and Chandreyee Bhattacharya. She recently completed her postgraduate degree in Hindustani Classical Music from the University of Mumbai, further solidifying her academic and artistic credentials.

She has also made her mark in the digital space, having contributed her voice to Heeramandi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-talked-about Netflix series, as well as several popular Indian television serials.

Looking ahead, Krishnakali is gearing up for her next big milestone—a solo performance at the prestigious Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai on September 5. This performance marks a significant achievement in her career and signals her growing influence in India’s classical and contemporary music circles.
