PM Modi departs for London on official visit to United Kingdom

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for his four-day official visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives this afternoon.  In the first leg of his tour, he will reach London later tonight. During the visit, Mr Modi will hold discussions with his UK counterpart, Keir Starmer and call on King Charles III. In his departure statement, Mr Modi said that India and the K share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that has witnessed significant progress in recent years. He added that collaboration between both nations spans a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, technology, innovation, and defence, among others. Mr Modi highlighted that during his meeting with the UK Prime Minister, both sides will have the opportunity to further enhance the economic partnership, aimed at fostering prosperity, growth and job creation in both countries.
 
Further, in the second leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will undertake a state visit to the Maldives from 25th to 26th July on the invitation of Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu for the 60th anniversary of the Independence of the Maldives. He said that he is looking forward to meeting President Muizzu and other political leadership to advance the joint vision of a Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership. Mr Modi expressed confidence that the visit will yield tangible outcomes, benefiting the Indian citizens and advancing the country’s Neighbourhood First Policy.
