Prasar Bharati CEO and President of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) General Conference (GC), Gaurav Dwivedi, said that Prasar Bharati has been piloting AI-driven solutions in the newsroom to meet the requirements of the future. Mr Dwivedi said this during the inaugural session of the 20th Asia Media Summit 2025 at Siem Reap in Cambodia. He highlighted that the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the news and broadcasting industry. He added that keeping this in view, Prasar Bharati has started automating content curation, enhancing fact-checking, and personalising viewer experiences to focus on in-depth storytelling, while ensuring accuracy and speed.

Mr Dwivedi remarked that the principle of Universal Access remains at the heart of public service broadcasting in India. He highlighted that Doordarshan’s Free Dish platform and Akashvani’s digital initiatives have expanded reach and ensured that every citizen, regardless of geography or means, has access to credible news, education, and entertainment. He also noted that Prasar Bharati’s  ‘WAVES’ OTT is echoing this vision as a platform for a new digital cultural movement. He reaffirmed Prasar Bharati’s commitment to multilingual programming and regional outreach, ensuring India’s cultural and linguistic diversity is celebrated and represented.

Talking about the challenges in the Asia-Pacific media landscape, the Prasar Bharati CEO added that the region is grappling with misinformation, declining trust, the rise of AI, staffing shortages and increased workload. He reiterated the resolve to uphold the principles of universal access, editorial integrity, and technological innovation.

Mr Dwivedi also lauded the AIBD for bringing together over 400 leading broadcasters, policymakers, regulators, and media professionals from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. He added that the summit is a window for regional policymakers to access global best practices in media policy and regulation, and a catalyst for national media development.
