The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare informed that as of the 30th of last month, summer crop sowing has seen a significant increase, covering 83.93 lakh hectares, up by 9.21 lakh hectares compared to last year. In a statement, the Ministry said that the area of rice production has increased by 4.80 lakh hectares to 35.86 lakh hectares, while pulses have risen by 2.77 lakh hectares to 24.25 lakh hectares. Among pulses, greengram and blackgram have shown notable growth. Shree Anna cum Coarse cereals and oilseeds have also seen increases, with maize and groundnut showing significant growth.
