Life in the present period is unimaginable without electricity. The present central government since last 8 years has been working towards development of each and every sector associated with the Power system. Lives of the people of the country have changed hugely as a result of the development in the Power system, stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the country via video conference today in a programme held on the occasion of Ujjal Bharat, Ujjal Bhavisya POWER @ 2047.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha joined the programme today from the Secretariat via video conference.
The Prime Minister interacted with beneficiaries of different states including Tripura via video conference who have been benefitted under PM-KUSUM, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana etc.
Kalaha Reang from Khowai district of Tripura interacted with the Prime Minister. Along with him were, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and Secretary of Power department Brijesh Pandey. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also has had inaugurated electricity schemes of the state and laid foundation stone. He also inaugurated National Rooftop Solar Portal.
The Prime Minister while addressing said, today’s programme signifies new goal and new achievement of New India of the 21st century. The Power sector will play a significant role in accelerating country’s development in the next 25 years. He said, the central government is working giving importance to Green Hydrogen production. In this regard, two Green Hydrogen projects are currently going on in Ladakh and Gujarat. This kind of initiative is the first in the country.
The Prime Minister said, infrastructure for electricity production of about 1 lakh 70 thousand Mega Watt have been set up in the country in the last 8 years. About 1 lakh 70 thousand 70 km transmission line has been extended to connect the entire nation with Power system. 3 crore families have been provided with electricity connection under Saubhagya Yojana. Various reforms have been made in the Power sector in the last few years to bring electricity within the reach of the common people and to make the Power system efficient and effective. ‘One Nation, One Power Grid’ system has been started in the country which is now counted as the nation’s power.
