The AICC delegation met TPCC president Birajit Sinha who had been injured in brickbatting on Sunday.

The AICC team later held a press conference and said that the BJP was worried and unsettled at the emergence of Congress in the state politics and that is why they resorted to violence to scare off the opposition workers.

“Our newly elected MLA Sudip Roy Barman was attacked before the polls and after the polls result, PCC president Birjit Sinha and others were attacked by the BJP hooligans,” alleged Chowdhury.

They also took a dig at the Chief Minister reported remark that ‘everything was not under his control’.

“It is a matter of concern now that if any Chief Minister says that everything is not under his control or jurisdiction. However, it is reassuring that he told us that he would take all steps to restorepeace and democracy in Tripura,” he told reporters.

He said, “Despite such brutal attacks on our Congress leaders, we fought hard against the BJP in this by-elections and people voted for the congress party. Now that the BJP party is unable to accept the Congress emergence, they have started attacking us.”
