Bharatiya Janata Party’s newly appointed incharge Kailash Vijayvargiya who arrived here on Thursday held a high level meeting to discuss and finalize the candidate list for the ensuing by polls. The meeting chaired by Chief Minister and also BJP state unit president Dr Manik Saha also discussed in details the poll strategies.
Ashok Singhal and Jayanta Malla Baruah- the two others newly appointed incharge along with Vijayvargiya, and also Assam leader Phanindra Nath Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma , Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik were present in the meeting. While Vijayvargiya, arrived on Thursday the others haf come here on Wednesday.
Earlier on Wednesday Assam general secretary (organization) Phanindranath Sharma, who arrived in Agartala on Wednesday, held two separate organizational meetings in 6- Agartala and 8- Town Bordowali assembly constituencies where by-elections are scheduled on June 23 next.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired the meetings with all office bearers of the two constituencies and discussed the strategies for the ensuing by-polls.
Meanwhile, the ruling party is yet to announce the candidate list for the by-elections to four constituencies- Agartala, Bordowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar.
According to party sources, the Chief Minister is likely to contest from the 8- Town Bordowali constituency while two/three names came up for discussion for 6- Agartala constituency. The sources said, discussions are also going on regarding selection of candidate for the two other constituencies.
On the other hand, 136 voters joined the saffron camp in presence of the Chief Minister at Bordowali constituency. BJP state vice-president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Mayor Dipak Majumder and others were present in the joining programme.
In the meantime, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik held a separate organizational meeting along with the Mandal presidents and general secretaries of West Tripura Parliamentary Constituency for booth empowerment.
BJP state general secretary Kishore Barman and others were present in the meeting.
