In a surprising move all of a sudden Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb resigned on Saturday

Sources said, Dr Manik Saha, incumbent president of the BJP state and also a Rajya Sabha member, will take oath as the new Chief Minister as he was elected the BJP Legislative Party leader.

Deb submitted his resignation to Governor Satyadev Narain Acharya. Deb will now take up the organizational matters for full time

As the incumbent Chief Minister resigns the ministry will thus stand dissolved. However, it will be the new Chief Minister- Dr Saha who will decide whether he will go ahead with the same cabinet or will make some changes.

But it has been confirmed that the decision was taken by the central leadership. Deb who visited party president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah for the last two days returned Agartala this morning only. A team of senior BJP functionaries also came to Tripura in a chartered flight. After that hours long meeting was held at the residence of the Chief Minister where the course of actions were decided.

Sources said the sudden rejig was initiated to revitalize the party before the ensuing elections. It is learnt that Deb will be given the charge of the party to sail through the ensuing elections with full might.

Dr Manik Saha is not a member of the Tripura legislative assembly, but he will have six months in his hand to get elected. It is in all likelihood he will fight the next assembly by elections and return to the assembly as its member.

Deb said, he will now devote time for the organizational activities.
