However here are some of the contributions given for ready reference.
1) It is well known that Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s genius was First recognized by Tripura King Maharaja Birchandra Manikya Bahadur (1839-1897). It was at a time when Gurudev was only in his 20s. It was at that time Maharaja Birchandra Manikya Bahadur had lost his queen Bhanumati Devi and he happened to read ‘Bhagna Hriday’. The Maharja in his saddest moment found solace in the poem and was moved. He could also immediately recognize the brilliance of the future Nobel laureate. The Maharaja who headed the 500 years old Manikya Dynasty sent his Minister, Radharaman Ghosh who also happened to be a scholar of Vaishnava literature, to offer honours to Gurudev at Jorasanko . This was in 1882. It was with this lifelong and close association of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Tripura began. Gurudeb visited Tripura seven times from 1899 to 1926. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was also invited by Maharaja Birchandra to accompany him to Kurseoung in 1894.
2) It was during the Maharaja Birchandra Manikya’s son and next Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya Bahadur that the relations became more close because of both Gurudev and Maharaja Radhakishore being contemporary.

Gurudev while accepting the honor wrote to Maharaja Bir Bikram
“Today with utmost rejoicings I like to articulate that the short horizon of my ripe age has been radiated by the reflected glow of honour bestowed on me by the royal dignitaries of the princely state of Tripura. There is one particular reason why I feel delighted today. My heart was filled with pride and joy when I read of the uncommon generosity with which the present Maharaja had given shelter to a large number of oppressed and distress-stricken people. Now I can fully appreciate that hereditary royal munificence has been stamped fruitfully in the mind of Bengali people. The time when the great glory of the royal family reached its zenith I happen to receive the honorific title from the hand of the Maharaja of Tripura. Therefore I deem it to be the brightest moment of my life.”
