In the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup, defending champions India thrashed England by 9 wickets in the second semifinal in Kuala Lumpur to seal a spot in the final. India will face South Africa in the title clash on Sunday.
Chasing the target of 114 runs set by England, India comfortably made 117 for one in 15 overs, riding on impressive knocks from openers G. Trisha with 35 off 29 balls and G. Kamalini with 56 not out off 50 balls. Indian spinners Parunika Sisodia and Vaishnavi Sharma bagged 3 wickets each. Indian bowlers restricted England to 113 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs.
England had won the toss and elected to bat first. South Africa qualified for their first-ever ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup final after a five-wicket win over Australia in the first semifinal earlier in the day.
