The 21st Sub-Divisional Conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) began on a powerful note at the newly inaugurated town hall in Sonamura. Addressing the gathering, CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury delivered a passionate speech critiquing governance at both state and national levels, while calling for systemic change rooted in socialism.

Chowdhury condemned global and regional crises, including attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and the ongoing violence in Gaza. “The world needs solidarity against such injustices,” he stated. Highlighting state issues, he lambasted the government for its alleged apathy towards public welfare, asserting, “Genuine public service has become a thing of the past. People will not forgive this regime.”

The leader also voiced concerns over increasing economic disparity, joblessness, and unfulfilled promises of development. He remarked, “India is a land of stark contrasts—millions face hunger, while a few billionaires accumulate wealth beyond measure. This inequality is intolerable.”

Chowdhury reaffirmed the CPI(M)’s commitment to socialism as the solution to India’s challenges. “Our struggle aims to transform India into a socialist nation, ensuring societal welfare and justice,” he declared.

Adding to the discourse, labor leader Manik Dey criticized the rising unemployment and growing despair among the youth under BJP governance. He reiterated the party’s pledge to advocate for policies promoting equity, including fair pricing for farmers and essential commodities. “The CPI(M) remains the true ally of the people,” Dey emphasized.
