The Tripura State Pollution Control Board organized a State-level exhibit/model display competition on ‘Affordable and Sustainable Lifestyle for a Greener Tripura’ at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala. This event brought together the top five participating groups from each of the eight districts of Tripura, totaling 40 groups, who showcased their innovative models and exhibits.
The primary goal of this competition was to foster sustainable living practices and enhance environmental awareness among students. The top three schools were awarded trophies and cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 5,000 respectively. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Higher Secondary School secured the first position, Pitra Higher Secondary School achieved the second position, and Tulashikhar Rajnagar Higher Secondary School attained the third position. All participating students received certificates in recognition of their efforts and contributions.
The Minister of Science, Technology & Environment Department, Animesh Debbarma, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Dr. K. Sasikumar, Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Tripura, as the Guest of Honor. Special Guests included Mahender Singh, Director of Science, Technology and Environment and Sri N.C. Sharma, Director of School Education.
While delivering the welcome speech Dr. K. Sasikumar urged the students to come forward to protect the environment. He emphasized on the importance of ‘Mission Life’ in protecting the environment and leading a sustainable lifestyle.
During his speech, the Minister , appreciated the efforts of the Tripura State Pollution Control Board and the participants. He stated that it was truly inspiring to see the enthusiasm and innovation displayed by our young participants and such competition is not just about showcasing models; it is about instilling a sense of responsibility towards our environment. During his speech he said that sustainable living is crucial for the well-being of our planet and our future generations and only by adopting eco-friendly practices, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and preserve the natural beauty of Tripura. He also commend all the students for their hard work and creativity, and urged everyone to take these ideas forward and implement them in our daily lives so that we can create a greener and more sustainable Tripura.
Director of School Education, NC Sharma while delivering his speech said that
the students are doing their duty to protect the environment. It is now necessary to adopt a sustainable lifestyle by all sections of the society to create a greener Tripura.
In addition to the exhibit/model display competition, the winners of a Hackathon Competition on ‘Circular Economy’ under 12 sub-themes were also recognized. These winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 3,000 and trophies.
Students from various schools across the state attended the event to witness the diverse and creative exhibits, fostering a spirit of innovation and environmental stewardship.
In his Vote of Thanks, Dr. Bishu Karmakar, Member Secretary of Tripura State Pollution Control Board, called upon every citizen and student to adopt an environment-friendly lifestyle and spread the message for greater outreach.
