In Jammu and Kashmir, a voter turnout of 58.19 per cent has been recorded up to 5 PM in the first phase of Assembly polls today. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the voting began at 7 AM across 24 Assembly segments of the Union Territory amid tight security arrangements. The maximum voting percentage among the 16 assembly segments in the Kashmir valley was recorded in Pahalgam Assembly Constituency at 67.86 per cent followed by D.H. Pura Assembly Constituency at 65.21 per cent and Kulgam Assembly seat at 59.58 per cent. The lowest, 40.58 per cent voting was recorded in the Tral Assembly segment.

In Jammu division, the voting is being held in 8 Assembly segments of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts of the Chenab Valley. The maximum voter turnout was recorded in Inderwal Assembly Constituency of Kishtwar district with 80.06 percent of voting. The Kishtwar Assembly Constituency recorder 75.04 per cent, Padder-Nagseni recorded 76.80 per cent, Bhaderwah recorded 65.27 per cent, Doda East recorded 70.21 per cent, Doda West recorded 74.14 per cent, Ramban recorded 67.34 per cent while Banihal Assembly Constituency recorded 68 percent voting upto 5 PM.

The polls are being held for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370.
