A no-confidence motion has been filed against Pradyut Dey Sarkar, the Chairman of Dharmanagar Municipality. This motion, supported by 21 out of the 25 councillors, was officially presented to the Chief Executive Officer, Shyamjoy Jamatiya, on Wednesday. The councillors cited disruptions in the functioning of the municipality over the past three days as the primary reason for their decision.
Chairman Sarkar stated that he has not yet received any directives from the state president or other officials but expressed his willingness to adhere to any instructions from the BJP’s state leadership. While the operations of the municipal office continue without interruption, Sarkar’s personal office remains closed. The effectiveness and consequences of the no-confidence motion are yet to be determined as the situation develops.
