In a gesture, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has presented a gift of 500 kilograms of Queen Pineapples to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The delivery, which took place on Sunday, underscores the commitment of both leaders to bolster bilateral relations and foster regional cooperation.
The Queen Pineapple variety, celebrated for its exceptional taste and nutritional richness, holds a special place in Tripura’s agricultural heritage. Recently awarded a geographical indication (GI) tag, this pineapple variety is a symbol of the state’s agricultural prowess and distinctiveness.
Assistant Director Dr. Dipak Baidya, representing the Chief Minister, highlighted the significance of this gift, emphasizing that each of the 100 containers contained six pineapples weighing at least 750 grams, totaling 500 kilograms. Abdul Kaiyum Talukdar, Revenue Officer at Akhaura Land Customs Station in Brahmanbaria, received the consignment on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
