To bolster the healthcare infrastructure and public services, the Tripura cabinet has approved the recruitment of 469 posts across various departments. Announcing the decision at a press conference, Minister for Tourism and cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury outlined the details of the new employment drive.

The Health Department will see the creation and filling of 226 posts for General Duty Medical Officers. The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) will oversee this recruitment process. Additionally, 16 posts for super specialist doctors and 172 posts for specialist doctors will also be filled under the Health Department through the TPSC. These measures aim to significantly strengthen healthcare services across the state, ensuring better medical care for residents.

Further bolstering public safety, the cabinet approved the recruitment of 49 Sub-Officers for the Fire and Emergency Services Department. These positions will also be filled through direct recruitment conducted by the TPSC.

In the realm of food security, six new Food Sub-Inspectors will be recruited via the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). This move is expected to enhance the efficiency and oversight of food distribution and safety in the state.

The cabinet also made provisions for the re-appointment of 67 retired police officers on a contractual basis. These officers will be deployed at three key immigration centers: Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala, Nischintapur Railway Station, and the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Sabroom. With these re-appointments, the total personnel strength at these centers will reach 85. Additionally, a proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs to designate the airport as an official immigration center, facilitating the start of international air connectivity.

Responding to queries, the Food Minister assured that the state maintains a sufficient buffer stock of essential commodities, ensuring no disruption in supply.
