It was by all means an emotional moment when the old lady with her son met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in Amarpur on Saturday.
Bidhan Chandra Bhowmik was the patient who had undergone the first Open Heart Surgery in the GB Hospital recently. And the entire operation was done under the Ayushman scheme and the family did not have to pay any money.
On Saturday as the Chief Minister went to Amarpur Bhowmik came to meet the Chief Minister along with his mother and other family members. His mother broke into tears when she saw the Chief Minister and kept on blessing him. She told Deb it would have been not at all possible for them to go for such a complex surgery if the facilities were not possible in the state and the cost was not borne by the Ayushman scheme.
The Chief Minister later took to his social media handle and said : Feeling fortunate to have received a mother’s blessings on the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja.
Got an opportunity to meet with the family of Bidan Ch Bhowmik Ji who had undergone open-heart surgery at GB hospital recently.
His mother told me that It was impossible for them to get the surgery done anywhere else because of lack of financial resources but he got his treatment done for free at GB hospital and was overjoyed with his experience there.
Bidan Ji’s family showered immense blessings upon me for Bidan Ji’s successful treatment.
