Engineers from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) staged a protest on Monday, demanding immediate legal action against an advocate who allegedly assaulted one of their colleagues. The demonstration took place in front of the police headquarters, where the engineers sought the intervention of the Director General of Police (DGP).
The incident in question occurred on May 29 when TSECL senior manager Apu Pal was assaulted by an advocate outside the district court premises. According to a representative from the engineers’ forum, Pal had gone to resolve an ongoing issue related to the advocates’ protest at the IGM office
In response, the engineers’ forum representative expressed their frustration over the lack of police action despite filing a First Information Report (FIR) at the West Agartala Police Station. “We met with TSECL Managing Director Debasish Sarkar, urging him to take action. However, no progress has been made,” the representative told reporters.
The engineers are now demanding swift action from the DGP. “We demand the DGP take appropriate action against the advocate who mishandled our engineer. If legal measures are not taken promptly, we will escalate our protest,” the representative warned.
