In preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha embarked on a crucial visit to North Tripura district on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference in Dharmanagar, the Congress state chief highlighted the extensive groundwork undertaken by the party, having already toured 52 blocks and convened organizational meetings with party workers.

Expressing gratitude to supporters of the INDI Bloc in the previous Lok Sabha polls, Saha voiced optimism about the Congress’s prospects in the forthcoming Panchayat elections. He highlighted the pressing issues facing the state, particularly amidst the Chief Minister’s campaign activities in Bengal, pointing out the food crisis gripping the hills and the alarming lack of safety for women in Tripura.

Saha’s concern extended to the frequent incidents of rape and molestation plaguing the state, emphasizing the urgent need for change. Urging the people to align with Congress as a viable alternative, he underscored the party’s commitment to addressing these critical issues.

During his tour of North Tripura district, Saha convened organizational meetings at various locales, rallying support and galvanizing momentum for the party’s agenda.

The Pradesh Congress President’s proactive stance underscores the party’s readiness to contest the upcoming Panchayat elections and confront the pressing challenges facing Tripura.

However, his unwavering commitment to the cause led to his trial under the Arms Explosive Act in 1933, resulting in a seven-year incarceration in the infamous Andaman Jail.
