Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over reports that a boy from Arunachal Pradesh was kidnapped by the Chinese Army.
Gandhi tweeted, “A few days ahead of Republic Day, one future of India has been kidnapped by China. We are with the family Miram Taron and will not give up hope. We will not accept defeat.”
“The PM’s studied silence proves that he doesn’t care,” the opposition leader added.
Gandhi’s attack on the Prime Minister came a day after Modi’s colleague from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao said on Twitter, “Chinese #PLA has abducted Sh Miram Taron, 17 years of Zido vill. yesterday 18th Jan 2022 from inside Indian territory, Lungta Jor area (China built 3-4 kms road inside India in 2018) under Siyungla area (Bishing village) of Upper Siang dist, Arunachal Pradesh.”
“His friend escaped from PLA and reported to the authorities. All the agencies of Govt of India is requested to step up for his early release.”
In Sept 2020 amid the India-China border tension, five boys from the Upper Subansiri district were kidnapped and were released a week later, only after the Indian Army reached out to defuse the situation.
A similar incident had occurred in March the same year.
