The Left front party on Sunday held the Prime Minister Modi’s January 4 public rally responsible for the surging cases of COVID 19 across the state.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday evening, the CPI-M state secretary and former MP Jitendra Choudhury pointed out that PM Modi had come to address public rally at a time when the Central Health department had been issuing warnings over the COVID 19 disease and it’s Omicron variant.”
A delegation of the Left front party had met the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday and tabled a memorandum. The delegation had expressed concern over the recent aggressive spurt in Covid positive rate in the state.
“The COVID rate started surging particularly, after the public rally held at Vivekananda Ground which was addressed by the Prime Minister of the country on 4th January last,” Choudhury said while briefing the demands placed with the Chief Minister.
The memorandum of the Left party had placed series of demands with the Chief Minister  which included setting up of testing centres to undertake tests of ‘Omicron’ variant on mass scale in all the Sub-Divisions, equipping COVID Centres with sufficient doctors, nurses, para-medics, medicine, food, Oxygen and other required equipment and others.
The Left front demanded the government to bear entire expenses of treatment of Covid patients including those patients undertaking treatment in private hospitals . The party also demanded that the affected families be provided with free food till the patient was fully recovered.
