Twipra Students Federation TSF which called Tripura Bandh on Monday in protest against the alleged harassment of two students called off the strike.
The decision was conveyed at around 1.15 am in the night at the residence of ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury with whom the TSF leaders held hours long meeting on the issue.
Chowdhury was entrusted by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Ded to discuss the matter with the student leaders.
The TSF leaders said since the Police had registered the students’ FIR against the traffic constable who had allegedly harassed the two students the bandh was being called off. However, they also demanded high power probe into the incidenta and also compensation for the victims.
“We shall wait for four days and if no steps were taken against the erring policeman then we shall resort to agitation again”, he said TSF general secretary.
ICA minister expressed satisfaction at the TSF decision.
Chowdhury also assured that justice would be given to the students.
