On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the constitution of its state executive committee in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The committee comprises 59 members alongside 14 invitee members, representing a diverse array of party stalwarts and leaders.
Key figures within the committee include Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, and Member of Parliament Rebati Tripura, among others. The inclusion of ministers and other prominent party leaders underscores the committee’s comprehensive representation of BJP’s leadership spectrum.
The announcement was made by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, who declared the formation of the new state committee. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended his congratulations to all the appointed members, acknowledging their crucial role in the party’s endeavors.
Dr. Saha, in a social media post, emphasized the pivotal role the newly formed executive committee would play in disseminating the ideals and principles of the Bharatiya Janata Party to the masses. With its diverse composition and experienced leadership, the committee is poised to play an active and influential role in shaping the party’s strategies and outreach efforts leading up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Besides, the BJP has also aunched a nationwide program called Shakti Bandhan with the aim of uniting Matri Shakti (the power of women) in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. To ensure the success of this initiative across the country, a nine-member committee has been established, with State BJP vice-president Papia Dutta representing the state.
The Shakti Bandhan program commenced in the state with a celebratory event held at Pratapgarh English Medium School, where women from self-help groups and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) participated in a Chai Pe Charcha (tea-time discussion) session. During the event, West Bengal MLA Srirupa Mitra Chowdhury engaged in an extensive dialogue focusing on women’s empowerment and self-reliance.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Deepak Majumdar, graced the occasion with his presence and expressed his support for the initiative. He highlighted the significant increase in the number of self-help groups operating within the state, emphasizing their vital role in promoting economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among women.
