Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the new Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court at Mohanpur, emphasizing fair, fast, and accessible justice. Highlighting the judiciary’s role in building a developed Tripura by 2047, he assured state support for strengthening courts, reducing delays, and ensuring citizen-friendly justice delivery.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday emphasized the importance of a citizen-friendly judicial system that ensures justice is fair, fast, accessible, and affordable. He assured that the state government would extend all possible assistance to the judiciary to strengthen the justice delivery system in Tripura.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 16th Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge (Junior Division) Court at Mohanpur, Dr. Saha underscored the need to minimize delays and make judicial processes smoother for citizens. He appealed to legal practitioners and judges to ensure that people do not face harassment or long waiting periods when they seek justice.
“Maintaining the guidelines of the Supreme Court, all the works have been completed to construct the new Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate court. Tripura has eight district courts and 15 sub-divisional courts; with Mohanpur, it would be 16. We must go with the times. Keeping Mohanpur Court as a model, we would set up sub-divisional courts in the rest of the sub-divisions,” the Chief Minister said.
Advocates’ Preparation Key for Speedy Justice
Dr. Saha also pointed out the role of advocates in ensuring speedy judgments. He noted that judges closely observe whether advocates are prepared with their cases, and lack of preparation often leads to unnecessary delays. “When people are in trouble, they come to court and wait for their judgment. Advocates and judges must work with full dedication for the benefit of innocent people,” he remarked.
Vision of a Developed Tripura by 2047
The Chief Minister linked the strengthening of the judiciary with the larger goal of building a Viksit Tripura by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a developed India. He highlighted that Prime Minister Modi has been consistently working for security, self-reliance, and all-round progress across the nation.

He added that the judiciary plays a critical role in driving development, ensuring citizens’ rights, and protecting democratic values.
A Historic Day for Mohanpur
Calling the inauguration of the new court building a “historic day” for Mohanpur, Dr. Saha expressed gratitude for the contributions of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who is also the local MLA. He stressed that the new court would immensely benefit the people of the subdivision by reducing the burden on other courts and providing easier access to justice.

“Despite financial constraints, the state government is implementing development works in every sector, including women empowerment, economic growth, employment generation, social welfare, and human resource development. All this has been possible due to the principle of good governance. The present government works in a transparent and accountable manner,” he said.
Dr. Saha further noted that Mohanpur constituency has witnessed “unprecedented development works” in recent years, and the court’s inauguration would be remembered as a milestone achievement in its history.
Commitment to Judicial Strengthening
The Chief Minister reiterated that the BJP-led state government will continue to support the judiciary in all possible ways. He assured that justice in Tripura must remain fair, fast, accessible, and affordable, in line with the needs of the people.

He also acknowledged that legal complications sometimes disrupt development work, but maintained that with strong coordination between departments and the judiciary, the challenges could be resolved effectively.
Presence of Eminent Dignitaries
The inauguration ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from the people of Mohanpur, alongside senior dignitaries including Tripura High Court Chief Justice M.S. Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao, Justice T. Amarnath Goud, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Advocate General Shaktimoy Chakraborty, Director General of Police Anurag, Law Secretary Sanjoy Bhattacharya, and other senior officials.
The Chief Minister concluded with a strong message of optimism, stating that the new court would not only uphold justice but also contribute to the holistic development of Tripura.
