Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the new Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge Court building in Mohanpur, calling it a historic milestone. The modern facility, strategically located and Supreme Court compliant, promises accessible, timely justice while adding a new feather to Tripura’s judicial and governance achievements.
Mohanpur witnessed a historic moment with the inauguration of the new Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge (Junior Division) Court building, a development that marks a major milestone in Tripura’s judicial infrastructure. The event was graced by Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who is also the elected MLA from Mohanpur constituency. Calling the occasion both historic and memorable, Nath emphasized that the new facility would bring justice closer to the people while fulfilling a long-cherished demand of the residents.
The inauguration of government buildings is usually seen as routine, but this particular event stood out for its symbolic and practical importance. The new court building is not only spacious and aesthetically designed but also constructed with modern, citizen-friendly amenities to ensure smoother functioning of the judicial system. Nath described the court as a model for judicial infrastructure in Tripura, beautifully constructed and rich in contemporary features.
The location of the new building was chosen strategically to enhance accessibility, making it easier for citizens across Mohanpur subdivision to avail justice services. The Minister expressed hope that this court would serve as a blueprint for future judicial infrastructure projects across the state. Importantly, the building adheres to the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court for court infrastructure, ensuring compliance with national standards of judicial facilities.
A Journey from Foundation to Reality
Recollecting the journey of the project, Nath reminded the audience that the foundation stone of the building was laid in 2021 when he was serving as the Law Minister of Tripura. The event at that time was graced by Justice Akil Kureshi, the then Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. In just four years, the coordinated efforts of multiple departments and the High Court transformed the vision into reality. Nath credited this timely completion to the joint effort and commitment of the government machinery.

He also connected the achievement with the larger framework of India’s constitutional values. Referring to the Constitution as one of the finest in the world, Nath stated that its greatness lies not merely in the eloquence of its words but in the effective implementation of its principles through the legislature, executive, and judiciary. According to him, the inauguration of the Mohanpur court building is a concrete step towards realizing the constitutional dream of justice delivery for all.
A Step Toward Accessible Justice
In his address, Nath proudly noted Tripura’s consistent performance in judicial efficiency. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, and with strong cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, the Tripura High Court has earned recognition for having the highest case disposal rate in the country. This achievement, Nath pointed out, reflects the state’s strong commitment to providing citizens with timely, fair, and accessible justice.
The Power Minister further expressed that the new court building symbolizes not just infrastructure growth but also the fulfillment of people’s aspirations. For the residents of Mohanpur, it is a long-awaited institution that will ease the hardships of traveling long distances for legal proceedings. With its opening, justice will now be delivered closer to their doorsteps.
Emotional Connect with Mohanpur Residents
Delivering a heartfelt message, Nath addressed the people of Mohanpur, expressing his gratitude for being part of such a historic moment. “Today will be written in golden letters in the history of Mohanpur subdivision. The long-awaited demand of the people has been fulfilled with the inauguration of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court and Civil Judge (Junior Division) office. I feel blessed to have been part of this historic occasion alongside our Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.”
Nath added that he believes the new court will not only open the doors of justice but also ignite hope among the people. His heartfelt prayer was that justice should reach citizens at the right time and at their very doorstep.
