The state administration has gone into tizzy as Prime Minister Narenda Modi is scheduled to visit Agartala on Tuesday to inaugurate the MBB International Airport and some other projects.

Government officials- both from civil and police administrations held several rounds of meetings with various departments to ensure the PM visit a grand success. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok and DGP V S Yadav are personally monitoring the preparedness.

Sources said, the SPG officials have already come to Agartala to see that all security related matters are put in place.

In the meantime, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has also geared up its preparations to offer a grand welcome to Prime Minister.

As part of the preparations, while a delegation of BJP leaders led by ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury inspected Swami Vivekananda Maidan where the Prime Minister would address a public rally, various Morchas of the party are holding regular meetings in state and district levels to make the rally successful.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s state office on Thursday, state spokesman Nabendu Bhattacharjee said he believes that the Prime Minister would not only dedicate the Maharaja Bir Bikram international airport but also announce some other projects.

“Whenever the Prime Minister visited Tripura, he made some important announcements as well as implemented them,” Bhattacharjee said.

He announced that the Prime Minister would arrive from Manipur and enter Swami Vivekananda ground at 1 pm. He said a gathering of approximately 50,000 people is expected in the rally.

Bhattacharjee also appealed to the people to maintain Covid protocols while attending the Prime Minister’s rally.

According to the BJP state spokesperson, party’s national president J.P. Nadda is expected to arrive in the state on January 11 next to attend organizational programmes.

BJP state vice-president MLA Rampada Jamatia and secretary Ratan Ghosh were present in the press conference.
