Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder announced a mission-mode initiative to give the capital city an entirely ‘new look.’ Mayor Majumder inaugurated a “Lavarthi Sammelan” on the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana at Agartala Town Hall, emphasizing the corporation’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Agartala.
Addressing the program, Majumder unveiled comprehensive plans for the welfare of Agartala’s street vendors, numbering 2,738 in the Agartala Pur Nigam area. Street vendors are benefiting from loans ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 through the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana.
In the pursuit of “New Agartala,” the AMC has initiated projects such as constructing new roads, renovating old ones, revamping abandoned ponds, improving city drains, enhancing electrification, implementing door-to-door garbage collection, establishing open gyms, and expanding drinking water facilities.
The mayor expressed that the corporation’s two-year report card would soon be presented to the citizens, showcasing the transformative efforts made. He credited Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for spearheading the mission to build a self-reliant and better Tripura.
During the beneficiary conference marking the completion of two years of AMC, Mayor Majumder distributed various benefits to citizens, including financial assistance to street vendors and recognition for those excelling in digital transactions. Additionally, free homoeopathic and allopathic medicines were provided, and several individuals received benefits under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
The event witnessed the distribution of Aadhar cards, e-labour cards, and the registration of 405 new street vendors in Agartala Pur Nigam. Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, AMC officials, and representatives from various banks were present, reflecting the collaborative efforts for the socio-economic upliftment of the city.
