The 62nd All India Civil Defence and Home Guards Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the AD Nagar Manoranjan Debbarma Police Grounds in Agartala on Friday. The annual event, observed nationwide on December 6, witnessed a large gathering, including Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Santana Chakma, senior police officials, and numerous citizens.

In her address, Minister Chakma emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation for the progress of India and Tripura. She highlighted that achieving peace and unity requires collective efforts from all sections of society. “For peace and unity, to take the country forward, everyone must come together,” she said.

Minister Chakma acknowledged the critical role of the Home Guard, Civil Defence, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in disaster management and societal safety. However, she noted that their efforts would be incomplete without active community participation.

The Minister also advocated for a drug-free Tripura, urging citizens to join the mission against drug abuse. Stressing the need for collective action, she called for setting aside differences to work towards the common goal of a safer and more harmonious society.

An oath-taking ceremony led by Minister Chakma marked the day’s highlights, where attendees pledged to face disasters with courage and resilience. The event underscored the commitment of individuals and organizations to support and protect one another in times of need, reflecting the spirit of unity and community responsibility.
