A total of 2,28,411 houses have been approved in the state so far from the financial year 2021-22 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Out of this 1,18,550 houses have been completed, said L.H Darlong, Principal Secretary of Rural Development Department recently.

The Principal secretary said, a total of 38,831 Self Help Groups have been formed through the Department of Rural Development for the purpose of financially enriching the rural women of the state. More than 350,000 rural women are involved in these self-help groups . These Self Help Groups have been given financial assistance through Revolving Fund besides disbursement of Rs.811 crore through banks.

Darlong said, ‘if the rural women are empowered, the family will be empowered. Besides, the economy of the village will also be strong”.

He said, the Mission Amrit Sarovar  was recently launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the country. Its objective is to dig ponds as well as restore abandoned water bodies to avoid future water shortages. Out of 966 Amrit Sarovars identified in the state, 77 Amrit Sarovar have already been completed.

He said that MGNREGA has created 1 crore 46 lakh 77 thousand mandays in the current financial year in the state so far. MGNREGA has 6 lakh 77 thousand job cards in the state.

Deputy Secretary of Rural Development Department Manoj Saha and Under Secretary Sudipta Biswas were present at the press conference.
