A young man narrowly escaped death after an alleged planned assault and robbery by individuals he trusted, highlighting rising concerns over personal safety and betrayal in semi-urban regions. The incident occurred on Monday night under Madhupur police station limits, leaving the victim injured but alive.
Roni Mia, a resident of Harihardula, reported that he was heading toward his in-laws’ residence when he reached out to his acquaintance Akash near the Ghaniamara area, close to Bishalgarh. What initially appeared to be a routine meeting soon turned into a violent ordeal.
According to Roni’s statement, Akash, along with two others identified as Raju and Joynal, allegedly lured him to a secluded location near Arbindanagar School. There, the trio reportedly launched a brutal attack, beating him with sticks and physically assaulting him. The attackers allegedly robbed him of Rs 50,000 in cash and a gold chain. His clothes were reportedly torn during the assault, and he sustained injuries to his legs and waist.
The situation reportedly escalated further as the accused forced him onto a bike and attempted to take him toward Bishalgarh. Roni claimed that the group intended to extort an additional Rs 20,000, which he was expected to collect from his sister. Sensing imminent danger, he took a desperate step and jumped off the moving bike, managing to escape despite his injuries.

The incident has raised serious questions about trust and criminal intent among acquaintances. Police are expected to initiate an investigation based on the victim’s complaint, and efforts may be underway to locate and apprehend the accused individuals.
