A woman was assaulted and her home looted in the Purba Fulbari Gram Panchayat area under Churaibari police station. Despite the gravity of the crime, the police have failed to arrest the accused even after five days, raising serious concerns about the handling of the case.
The incident occurred on the night of September 13, when a group of three men, including a neighbor, Nur Uddin (51), forcibly entered the woman’s home by breaking a window. The woman was home with her two children, while her husband was away for work. The intruders looted cash worth ₹20,000, gold ornaments, and other valuables.
Before fleeing, Nur Uddin allegedly physically assaulted and raped the woman. Her cries for help alerted local residents, who quickly informed the police. In her complaint, the victim named Nur Uddin as the perpetrator of the theft and the assault.
Though the police conducted an immediate search of the accused’s home, Nur Uddin remains absconding. This delay in arresting the culprits has sparked criticism of the police’s effectiveness in pursuing justice.
