The West Tripura district-level Youth Festival and Science Fair will be held on Sunday at Surjamaninagar Higher Secondary School featuring science exhibitions, cultural shows, sports competitions, and anti-drug awareness activities, with top dignitaries and youth talents participating.
The district-level Youth Festival and Science Fair for West Tripura is all set to take place on Sunday at Surjamaninagar Higher Secondary School, promising a day filled with creativity, innovation, cultural vibrancy, and youth empowerment. Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee will formally inaugurate the programme, which seeks to bring together young talents from every corner of the district.
In the early hours of Sunday, a colourful and motivational rally will be taken out with the aim of encouraging the youth to unite and stand firmly against drug abuse. The rally is expected to involve hundreds of students, volunteers, teachers, and youth icons, spreading a powerful message of social responsibility and healthy living.
Press Conference Announced Key Highlights
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Biswajit Shil, Sabhadhipati of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad, shared in detail the preparations and objectives behind hosting the district-level festival.
Speaking to the media, Seal said, “The district-level Youth Festival and Science Fair are being organized as part of the upcoming state-level celebrations. This initiative aims to encourage young minds to showcase their talents in science, sports, culture, and leadership.”
He further informed that throughout the day, a series of engaging competitions and exhibitions will be held. The science fair will be one of the major attractions, where students from different schools across the district will present 50 innovative science-based models. These models will focus on subjects such as environmental conservation, renewable energy, robotics, agriculture, and modern technology.
Cultural Extravaganza in the Evening
As part of the Sunday programme, a grand cultural evening has been scheduled. Renowned artists from West Bengal — Rik Basu and Keshab Dey — will perform at the event, making it a vibrant and memorable gathering for the audience. Traditional and modern performances by local youth and cultural groups from West Tripura will also be featured, showcasing the region’s rich artistic heritage.
Several dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and local MLA Ramprasad Paul, Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar, and MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, are expected to attend the cultural programme as special guests. Their presence is seen as a strong encouragement to the youth community.
Participation from Across the District
During the press briefing, Biswajit Seal highlighted that participants from nine blocks and four urban local bodies of West Tripura district will take part in various sports competitions and cultural events. Students will compete in athletics, music, dance, debate, drama, and other youth development activities.
Seal added, “Based on the performances in the district-level Youth Festival and Science Fair, we will select the West Tripura district team. These selected participants will represent our district in the upcoming state-level festival. We are confident that our youth will perform strongly and bring recognition to the district.”
The event aims not only to provide a platform for students to compete and learn but also to encourage collaboration, innovation, and leadership among young people.
Support from Multiple Departments
The Sabhadhipati also mentioned that the programme is being jointly supported by the West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Dukli RD Block, Public Works Department (PWD), and the District Sports Office. Their combined efforts have ensured proper arrangements, including exhibition space, sports facilities, security, hospitality, transportation, and technical support for science-based presentations.
Local teachers and school authorities have expressed enthusiasm, stating that events like this help students think beyond textbooks, explore practical learning, and develop confidence in public presentations. Many students participating in the science fair have spent weeks preparing their models, eager to demonstrate their innovative ideas to visitors and judges.
