“We must carry forward and nurture the rich cultural legacy that our music maestro Sachin Dev Burman left for us”, said Sushanta Chowdhury, ICA minister while inaugurating the 115th Birth anniversary celebration of the music legend in Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan on Friday.
“The Royal era of Tripura handed down to us a rich and unique cultural heritage. It is now our duty not only to preserve but also to enrich it further “, he said.
“Sachin Dev Burman is one of the most notable persons of the State. His Hindi or Bengali music compositions still enthral people. Popularity of his songs is overwhelming even in present days. Cultural legacy of Sachin Deb Burman will help us take cultural activities of the State to a new height”, the Minister said.
To enrich the cultural atmosphere of the state, Chowdhury said, special attention will be paid to set up a Film Institute, cultural hub etc.
Among others vice chairman of advisor of the Cultural Committee, ICA secretary Prashant Kumar Goyal , Director ICA Ratan Biswas and chairman of Society for Management of cultural complex Kamal Deb were present in the programme.
A similar programme in memory of Sachin Dev Burman was also orgainzed at Rajarshi Kalakshetra in Udaipur on Friday.
Gomati district Sabhadhipati Swapan Adhikari along with other dignitaries inaugurated the programme.
Among others, MLA Biplob Kumar Ghosh, former councillor of Udaipur Municipal Council Shital Chandra Majumder, former teacher Sameer Chakraborty, and senior information officer of the Information and Culture Department Manoj Devvarma were present in the programme.
The presence of common people at the programme was noticeable.
