Four  National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants have surrendered to the Special Branch of police on Friday and deposited one revolver, one gun and some live cartridges on Friday.

According to a press release, the three NLFT (PD group) extremists Doberam Reang (47) of Chandra Kumar Para under Khedacherra police station, Sailendra Reang (22) of Bhandarima, Samprai Debbarma (46) of Sandhirarn Thakur Para and Subhalal Tripura (22) of Sajekgaireng Para under Dhumacherra police station in Dhalai district surrendered.

They informed police that they had fled from Jupui NLFT (PD) Camp under Bagaichar in Rangamati, Bangladesh and surrendered to the Special Branch on October 1 last.

They deposited one US-made revolver, one factory-made gun, one Chinese grenade,  four live Bullets, three pieces of NLFT collection receipt  and Bangladesh Taka — 800/-.

During preliminary interrogation, it has been revealed that they joined the militant outfit in 2019 in Bangladesh NLFT Camp with other extremists.

During field experiences of these extremist cadres, they realised their so-called fight for the independence of Tripura is totally unrealistic. Remaining on the ground, they have realised that there is no future prospect in this path of violence. On the other hand, presently NLFT (PO) group is facing a serious financial/ organizational crisis.
