Tripura government is serious about timely implementation of the Vision documents, especially those relating to the primary sectors. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb held high level meetings with his ministerial colleagues including Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and senior bureaucrats including Chief Secretary Kumar Alok to review the government’s endeavours in this regard.

Official sources said, after two-day hectic parleys and review the Chief Minister asked the related officers to complete the programmes as envisaged in the Vision Documents at the earliest.   

Taking part in the discussion, secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department- Apurba Roy said the state government is working with the target to increase the farmers’ monthly income to Rs. 13,590 by the next financial year 2022-23.

He apprised the Chief Minister that the farmers’ income had already increased from Rs. 6580 per month in 2015-16 to Rs. 11,096 in the current financial year.

As mentioned in the Vision Document, initiatives were made to set up 23 Krishak Bandhu Kendras covering all sub-divisions, Roy informed the Chief Minister, adding that 23 Krishan Bandhu Kendras were already introduced.

To double the farmers’ income, the Horticulture department had taken various steps for quality production and marketing of the Queen variety of pineapple. In the past two and a half years, 6000 MP Queen pineapples were exported to Dubai and Qatar including some states of the country, he said.

The Health secretary informed the meeting that initiatives were already taken to set up Ayush Hospital in every district. Besides, efforts were being made to upgrade and strengthen the primary health centres and other health facilities across the state, he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized on regular follow up of the programmes by the concerned departments for timely completion of the works.

In the review meeting, the principal secretaries and secretaries of Education, health, Social Welfare and Social Education, Industries and Commerce, Information and Technology, Rural Development, PWD, Police, Labour, Law, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Cooperative and other department held threadbare discussions on the work plans.
