Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu who is presently on North East tourwill arrive here on Wednesday and will be received at the airport by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Union minister Pratima Bhoumik, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Secretary Kumar Alok.
The Vice President after his arrival is expected to launch the project of conversion of Agartala roads into Smart roads. The smart roads are climate resilient roads and they will connect in a network the entire city.
He along with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Tribal welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and others will also attend a North East Handloom and Handicrafts expo at Haphania International Fair Ground and interact with weavers and artisans at 6 pm.
In the evening Naidu is scheduled to meet successful farmers, fish farmers, Sericulture farmers, ARD achievers, frontline workers, SHG activists et al at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan Hall No 2. There would be 75-80 achievers who would be allowed to interact with the Vice President while others – around 200 would be in RS Bhavan Hall 1 for civic reception.
A cultural programme will be organized for the Vice President at Darbar Hall of Raj Bhawan where the indigenous art and culture would be presented by the artisans of the state.
Sources said, instrumental Jugal Bandhi on violin and flute would be performed by Sidhartha Sarkar and team, angrai dance would be performed by the artisans of Manu Bankul, Bharatanatyam by the Nabahodhan artisans and Hozagiri dance by Gachiram Para, Kanchanpur artisians.
On Thursday the Vice President will for Dimapur in a special flight.
