Veteran CPM leader and party’s state committee member Narayan Rupini Passed away on Thursday night. He was suffering from old age ailments for quite some time.
Rupini was the first Chairman of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. He was also a minister in the Left Front government.
One of the leading personality of the tribal politicians belonging to the Communist camp, Rupini was known as a soft spoken and amiable gentleman.
Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, politburo member Prakash Karat , party all India secretary Sitaram Yechuri – who were present in the state for attending the CPM state committee conference and party’s Tripura secretary Jitendra Choudhury among others paid last homage to their comrade. The former minister’s mortal remains were also brought to the assembly where Speaker Ratan Chakrabarty , Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma offered floral tribute to him.
