Covid vaccination for the children in the age group of 15-18 years will begin from tomorrow while precaution dose for the Frontline and Health workers and senior citizens with comorbidities will be administered from January 10 next.
“The children in 15-18 age groups will be given only Covaxin doses,” said Tripura Mission Director of National Health Mission- Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal in a press conference on Saturday.
He said the target for 15-18 age group is 2.13 lakh in state and the online process for booking slots has already started from Saturday; the beneficiaries may avail both online and on-spot booking facilities. Total 354 vaccination centres would be opened including highest 187 in West Tripura district for this drive, he said.
“In case of precaution dose, the frontline, healthcare workers and senior citizens with comorbidities who already passed 39 weeks after taking the second dose of Covid vaccine are eligible and they will receive an SMS alert on their registered mobile number about the schedule,” he said.
The number of people above 60 years with comorbidities is 91,200, he said, adding that no clarification on the vaccine to be used for giving precaution doses is available so far.
According to Jaiswal, as many as 46,97,654 doses were so far administered in the state. The figure included 25,69,550 first dose and 21,28,095 second dose.”
“Around 82.81 percent eligible people who took the first dose have also received the second dose,” he said, adding that stock of Covaxin and Covishield doses in the state was sufficient.
Briefing media about the latest Covid situation, he said there was no report of any Omicron case in the state so far.
