U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announces the establishment of a new “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), to be led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The department is tasked with reducing government bureaucracy, cutting excess regulations, and eliminating wasteful spending. Trump states that DOGE will provide “advice and guidance from outside of government” to improve efficiency across federal agencies.
In other key appointments, Trump has named former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan as “Border Czar,” responsible for overseeing immigration enforcement with a focus on deporting individuals who pose security threats. For Secretary of Defense, Trump has selected combat veteran Pete Hegseth, who served in Cuba, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
On the international front, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has been appointed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, where she will represent the US administration on issues including Ukraine and Palestine. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has been named special envoy to Israel.
Trump has also chosen South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security. Ms. Noem will oversee areas such as border protection and disaster response. Susie Wiles, a longtime adviser in Trump’s campaign, will serve as White House Chief of Staff, marking the first time a woman will hold this position.
Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe has been appointed CIA Director, while Republican Representative and former Army Green Beret Mike Waltz will serve as National Security Advisor.
According to the Trump Team, these appointments align with President Elect’s campaign promise to streamline government operations, strengthen national security, and address key foreign policy challenges.
