In the U.S., the deadline for federal government employees to submit their work accomplishments from the previous week ends tonight. The Trump administration sent emails to more than 2.5 million federal employees on Saturday, giving them 48 hours to respond.
In a social media post, Elon Musk, head of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said that failing to respond would be considered a resignation. He further said that those who submitted their reports early would be considered for promotions.
Meanwhile, U.S. domestic intelligence chief Kash Patel and other top officials in sensitive sectors opposed Musk’s directive, instructing employees to ignore it.
The emails were sent to multiple federal agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
