Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has called for Indian solutions for patients in the fight against diabetes and obesity in the country. In his address during the book launch event in New Delhi today, the Minister stated that central obesity, fat deposition around the abdomen, poses a more serious risk for Indians than Western populations.
He also pointed out against the unchecked spread of disinformation through unscientific diet charts and fad regimens. During the event, Dr. Singh also called for prevention-driven strategies, particularly in view of India’s young demographic. He added that with more than 70 % of the population below the age of 40, the country cannot afford to let its potential be compromised by lifestyle diseases.
