Unakoti district, situated in the northern part of the Indian state of Tripura, has reported five new Covid-19 cases in the last two days, raising concerns about the resurgence of the virus in the region. According to reports, the first case was reported on April 15 after two individuals went to avail health services at the Panisagar sub-divisional Hospital. Both persons, along with a third one, were found to be infected with Covid-19, and they all hailed from Nabinchhera in Pecharthal, Unakoti district. While one of the three Covid positive individuals had a travel history, the remaining two did not.

The situation in the district became alarming when two more persons from the Nabinchhera area tested positive for Covid-19 on April 17, bringing the total number of cases in the region to five. The news of the resurgence of the virus has created panic and tension among the people, and the district administration has advised everyone to follow Covid protocols to prevent the further spread of the virus.

In response to the situation, the District Surveillance Officer of Unakoti, Dr. Sankha Subhra Debnath, said that the Health Department is aware of the re-emergence of Covid in the district, and all five Covid positive persons are in home isolation and have been provided with necessary medical care. He also stated that the district health department is ready to deal with the situation, and a mock drill has already been completed this month as directed by the Government of India.

Dr. Debnath appealed to everyone to follow the Covid code of conduct and get tested at the nearest health center if any symptoms appear. He assured that the higher authorities, including the District Magistrate, have been informed about the current situation, and necessary steps are being taken to contain the spread of the virus.

The resurgence of Covid-19 in Unakoti district is a cause for concern, and it is essential for everyone to take necessary precautions to avoid the risk of getting infected with the virus. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation, and people are advised to stay updated with the latest information and follow Covid protocols strictly.
