In a significant achievement for the state of Tripura, four artists from the region have been selected to participate in the prestigious National Art Exhibition conducted by the Lalit Kala Akademi. This marks the first time in the history of the state that its artists have been selected for the national event. Out of a whopping 10,000 applications from all over the country, only 297 artists were chosen for the exhibition, with four artists from Tripura making the cut. The selected artists are Abhijit Majumder, Debjani Dutta, Siddhartha Shil, and Soumen Debnath.

Suman Majumder, the Lalit Kala Akademi official in Tripura, expressed pride in the state’s achievement and highlighted the significance of the occasion. “It is a matter of pride for the state that four artists – for the first time – from the state out of around 10,000 applicants from all over the country have been selected for the National Exhibition,” he said.

Majumder also mentioned that the Lalit Kala Akademi will bear the expenses for the artists to attend the exhibition. The next stage of selection will involve choosing the top 20 artists out of the 297 selected ones, who will be given the National Award and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs each. The award ceremony will be graced by the presence of the President of India.

The achievement of the Tripura artists is being viewed as an excellent opportunity for the growth and development of the state’s art and culture. Majumder believes that this gesture by the Central Government is a message to the artists of the state, and it will motivate the next generation to pursue their dreams in a conducive environment. The establishment of the Agartala Akademi and the opportunities provided to the artists in the state are sure to have a positive impact on the region’s art and culture scene.

Overall, the selection of four artists from Tripura for the National Art Exhibition is a significant accomplishment for the state and its artists, and it is expected to boost the morale of the artist community in the region.
