Union Shipping ministry has approved 10 floating jetties and dredging of Gumti river between Udaipur and Sonamura said Chief Secretary Kumar Alok.
Following the Shipping Ministry sanction the construction of the jetties and dredging would soon start. After dredging and construction of the jetties goods and passengers movement between these towns- Udaipur and Sonamura will be smooth and also help ease the burden on the road transportation. Besides, costs of transportation via waterways would also reduce the market price of the goods.
The Chief Secretary said in the next phase survey work will be taken up in 3 more rivers
