Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) allocates Rs 7.65 crore under AGEY to procure 90 vehicles for SHG Didis, boosting women’s empowerment, rural mobility, income generation, and grassroots economic development across Tripura.
The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has sanctioned Rs 7.65 crore under the Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) for the procurement of 90 vehicles to be distributed among Self-Help Group (SHG) Didis across the state.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening livelihood opportunities for rural women by improving mobility, access to markets, and income-generating activities. Officials confirmed that the vehicles will be handed over during a grand distribution ceremony later this year, marking an important milestone in Tripura’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable rural growth.
According to TRLM authorities, the vehicles will primarily benefit Cluster Level Federations (CLFs), Village Organisations (VOs), and SHG Didis who are actively engaged in economic activities such as agriculture marketing, local transportation, supply chain support, and essential service delivery in remote areas. Enhanced transport facilities are expected to reduce logistical barriers and increase profitability for women-led enterprises.

The procurement of all 90 vehicles is scheduled to be completed within the current financial year. The AGEY scheme, a flagship component under the National Rural Livelihood Mission framework, focuses on providing affordable and reliable transport solutions to Self-Help Groups, enabling them to operate sustainable businesses and generate steady income.
Ahead of the distribution process, the State TRLM team organised a detailed seminar session in Agartala for prospective beneficiaries, CLF Didis, and block-level officials. The session focused on the objectives of the AGEY scheme, operational guidelines, vehicle management, financial discipline, and the responsibilities of SHG members in ensuring transparent and effective utilisation of the assets.
Officials emphasised that proper maintenance, collective ownership, and disciplined financial practices will be critical to the long-term success of the initiative. The vehicles are expected to play a transformative role in connecting rural producers with urban markets, improving access to essential services, and creating employment opportunities at the grassroots level.

Authorities further noted that the scheme aligns with the state government’s broader vision of women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and rural economic resilience. By investing in mobility infrastructure for SHG Didis, TRLM aims to strengthen the rural economy while fostering leadership and entrepreneurship among women.
The AGEY vehicle allocation is being widely seen as a catalyst for community development, reinforcing Tripura’s commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable livelihood creation.
