Trisha Krishnan attended Vijay’s Tamil Nadu Chief Minister swearing-in ceremony in Chennai as TVK formed the government with alliance support, ending decades of DMK and AIADMK dominance in the state’s political landscape.
Actor-turned-politician Vijay officially took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday during a grand swearing-in ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The historic political moment attracted widespread public attention, not only because of Vijay’s remarkable rise in politics but also due to the presence of actress Trisha Krishnan at the ceremony.
The popular Tamil actress, who has frequently been linked with Vijay in recent months, was seen arriving at the venue in an elegant teal and gold saree paired with a cream blouse. Photographers captured the actress smiling warmly while leaving her residence before heading to the ceremony. Her mother, Uma Krishnan, accompanied her during the event.
Trisha’s appearance immediately became one of the major highlights of the swearing-in ceremony, with social media platforms flooded with photos and videos of the actress. Fans and political observers alike closely followed the event, especially amid ongoing speculation regarding her alleged relationship with Vijay.
Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single largest party in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party secured 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, marking a dramatic transformation in the state’s political structure.
Although TVK fell short of the majority mark on its own, Vijay successfully formed the government with the support of several alliance partners. The supporting parties include the Indian National Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian Union Muslim League, and Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam.
The alliance support enabled TVK to comfortably cross the majority threshold and establish the new government. Political analysts are describing the development as one of the most significant changes in Tamil Nadu politics in decades, as the victory effectively ended the long-standing alternating rule of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
Vijay’s rise from cinema superstar to Chief Minister has been closely followed across India. His massive popularity among young voters and first-time voters played a major role in TVK’s electoral success. Throughout the campaign, Vijay focused heavily on employment generation, education reforms, anti-corruption measures, and welfare initiatives aimed at economically weaker sections.
Following the election results announced after the May 4 polling process, discussions over coalition possibilities continued for several days before the alliance arrangement was finalized. The Governor subsequently invited Vijay to form the government and directed him to seek a vote of confidence in the Assembly on or before May 13, 2026.
Meanwhile, public curiosity around Vijay’s personal life has also remained intense in recent months. Earlier this year, reports surfaced claiming that Vijay’s wife of nearly three decades, Sangeeta Sornalingam, had filed for divorce, reportedly citing infidelity and alleging an affair involving an unnamed actress. Neither Vijay nor his family publicly addressed the reports in detail.
Speculation increased further in March when Vijay and Trisha Krishnan attended a wedding reception in Chennai wearing coordinated cream and gold outfits, sparking renewed discussion among fans and entertainment circles.
Despite the ongoing rumours, neither Vijay nor Trisha has publicly confirmed any relationship. However, Trisha’s attendance at such a politically significant event once again drew major public and media attention.
