Tribal youth from Teliamura, Tripura, achieves historic milestone as the first from his community to secure a nursing job in Tokyo, Japan, with support from the TTAADC and encouragement from CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia.

In a remarkable example of determination and opportunity, Janas Jamatia, a young man from Twirisa village under Teliamura subdivision in Tripura, has become the first individual from his tribal community to secure a nursing job in Tokyo, Japan. His success story is being hailed as a shining example of how institutional support and personal perseverance can open global doors for tribal youth.

Janas’s achievement was made possible through the guidance and sponsorship of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The council’s proactive support in facilitating professional training and overseas placement for tribal youth played a crucial role in transforming his aspirations into reality.

From a Modest Village to an International Career

Coming from a humble background in Twirisa, Janas’s journey to Tokyo reflects both his hard work and the growing impact of the TTAADC’s developmental initiatives. Overcoming economic and social challenges, he underwent professional training under a program supported by the ADC to prepare for international employment opportunities in healthcare.

After successfully completing his training, Janas was offered a five-year nursing contract in Tokyo, marking a historic first for the Tiprasa tribal community.

CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia’s Personal Visit and Encouragement

Recognizing the significance of this achievement, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of TTAADC, Purna Chandra Jamatia, along with Executive Member (EM) Kamal Kalai, visited Janas’s residence on Saturday to personally congratulate him and his family.

In a warm gesture of appreciation, CEM Jamatia extended financial assistance from his personal resources as a token of encouragement, symbolizing the district council’s support for aspiring youth seeking to uplift themselves through education and skill-based employment.

Taking to social media, CEM Jamatia shared his pride and optimism, writing:

“Today, I visited Janas Jamatia’s residence at Twirisa Kami, Teliamura, who has secured employment in Japan with the support of Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma and sponsorship from the TTAADC for his training. He is the first ever individual from our Tiprasa community to receive a job opportunity in Tokyo, Japan. I also extended some personal financial assistance to him as a gesture of encouragement.”

He further emphasized that Janas’s success demonstrates the potential of tribal youth when given access to training, guidance, and institutional backing.

A Symbol of Hope for the Tiprasa Community

For the Tiprasa people of Tripura, Janas’s success has become a symbol of hope and inspiration. His story underscores the importance of educational advancement and international exposure in empowering indigenous communities.

CEM Jamatia expressed confidence that this milestone will encourage more tribal youths to pursue professional training in sectors like healthcare, technology, and education — fields that are opening new global employment opportunities.

“His achievement is not only a personal success but also a collective victory for the Tiprasa community,” said CEM Jamatia. “We hope many more young people will follow his footsteps and bring pride to our land.”

Role of Leadership and Community Support

The success also highlights the role of TTAADC leadership under CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia and TIPRA Motha chairman Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, whose initiatives have aimed at uplifting tribal youth through education, employment, and global exposure.

Their joint vision of promoting skill development among tribal youth has begun to bear fruit, as stories like Janas’s showcase the real-world outcomes of such developmental programs.

The Broader Message

Beyond individual achievement, this story represents a turning point for Tripura’s tribal regions, which have long faced economic and educational marginalization. Through the combined efforts of community leaders, institutional programs, and the dedication of young individuals, new avenues of empowerment are emerging.
