The first National Lok Adalat of the year in Tripura is set to take place on March 8 across multiple judicial premises, including the Tripura High Court, district courts, and sub-divisional courts. A total of 21,247 cases will be taken up across 42 benches.
Among the cases, 340 pertain to motor accident compensation, 3,509 to bank loan disputes, 1,245 to BSNL bill issues, and 15,815 to compoundable criminal offenses. Additionally, 260 matrimonial disputes, 52 cheque bounce cases, 10 consumer cases, eight service-related matters, and five civil disputes will be heard.
Pre-conciliation efforts are already underway at district and sub-divisional legal service offices, and notices have been dispatched to concerned parties. Para-legal volunteers will assist attendees throughout the process.
Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury, Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, has urged citizens to take advantage of this opportunity for free and speedy dispute resolution.
